Outreach to the Public: Make a Will Month
Make a Will Month is an annual program put on by the Ontario Bar Association that helps inform the public about the importance of making a properly drafted will, as well as powers of attorney.
This past November, about 50 lawyers from our estates and trusts section at the Ontario Bar Association presented at Make A Will Month sessions held at public libraries across the provinces. The sessions were led in 9 cities across Ontario, including Toronto, Ottawa, Mississauga, Waterloo, Thunder Bay, Chatham-Kent, Hamilton, Timmins and Sarnia. This year, the sessions drew a total of 1,849 attendees from the general public. This year’s Make a Will Month attracted great media attention online, in print, on the radio and on television.
